Project Narrative
A family residence in Velachery, designed for a neighbourhood that balances urban density with a strong domestic culture. The project addresses the particular constraints of a mid-rise residential context — limited site exposure, tight adjacencies — through considered interior planning and a material palette that makes the most of available natural light.
Creating a sense of generous domesticity on a site defined by the density and light constraints typical of Velachery's established residential fabric — making the home feel open and settled without altering the conditions of the plot.
Interior planning prioritises open sightlines between rooms, strategic placement of reflective and warm-toned surfaces, and minimal partition walls where programme allows. Light is treated as a material — each room is considered for how it receives and distributes daylight at different times of day.
