Giving the ground floor enough character to serve as a genuine family gathering space while maintaining sufficient restraint that the bedroom suites above feel like a considered retreat rather than an afterthought.

Project Narrative
A two-floor family home anchored by a foyer and living area that form the spatial and social heart of the design. Light, texture, and material warmth are layered through the ground floor — with dining and kitchen zones calibrated for everyday ritual — while the upper floor holds the bedroom suites as a quieter, more private register of the same material language.
Giving the ground floor enough character to serve as a genuine family gathering space while maintaining sufficient restraint that the bedroom suites above feel like a considered retreat rather than an afterthought.
Warm surfaces, layered ambient lighting, and material texture were concentrated on the ground floor to create an envelope that is both generous and intimate. The upper floor palette was deliberately stripped back — cooler tones, simpler joinery — so the transition between floors reads as a shift in domestic mood rather than a drop in design quality.
A family home with a clear spatial hierarchy: the ground floor rewards gathering, the upper floor rewards rest. Each is resolved with the same care, delivered in a different register.
